To join the effort to reduce the level of poverty and hunger in your area or in the world, check out the following list of organizations that are working towards these goals and support their efforts either financially or through active participation.  Always research an organization and solicit advice from friends or colleagues before sending money or getting involved.

GiveDirectly - GiveDirectly is a global NGO specialized in delivering digital cash transfers. They have worked in challenging contexts across 11 countries, from Houston after Harvey to the most remote parts of Uganda, and launched 19 experimental evaluations (RCTs) with independent researchers documenting the impacts on recipients and on the local economy.

World Food Prize Foundation - The World Food Prize Foundation's mission is to elevate innovations and inspire action to sustainably increase the quality, quantity and availability of food for all.

Action Against Hunger - As the world’s hunger specialist, their primary goal is to create a better way to deal with hunger. For more than 40 years, they have led the global movement that aims to end life-threatening hunger. Their teams have been on the front lines, treating and preventing malnutrition across more than 45 countries.

CARE - CARE is a global leader within a worldwide movement dedicated to ending poverty. They are known everywhere for their unshakeable commitment to the dignity of people. CARE works around the globe to save lives, defeat poverty, and achieve social justice.

ChildFund - ChildFund International works throughout Asia, Africa and the Americas (including the U.S.) to connect children with what they need to grow up safe, healthy, educated and skilled, no matter where they are. Find out more at ChildFund.org.

Feeding America - Our mission is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger.

Friends of UNFPA - For the health and dignity of women and girls everywhere. We are the official support committee for UNFPA, the United Nations reproductive health and rights agency.

GiveWell - We search for the charities that save or improve lives the most per dollar.

Our goal is to produce the world's top research on where to give. Free, for everyone. We recommend a small number of charities that do an incredible amount of good.

Habitat for Humanity - Help build a world where everyone has a decent place to call home.

Heifer International - Since 1944, Heifer International has helped more than 36 million families lift themselves out of hunger and poverty by providing livestock, agricultural training, tools and education.

The Hunger Project - The Hunger Project is a global movement of individuals and organizations in 23 countries worldwide working in authentic partnership for the sustainable end of hunger.

International Rescue Committee - Founded at the suggestion of Albert Einstein, the IRC is a gold-standard organization working in some of the toughest neighborhoods around the globe.  The mission of the IRC is to help people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future.

Mercy Corps - Mercy Corps is a global humanitarian organization empowering people to recover from crisis, build better lives and transform their communities for good.

Mercy Ships Hospital - Mercy Ships is a global charity that has operated hospital ships in developing nations since 1978.

No Kid Hungry - Millions of children in America face hunger. This is a problem we know how to solve.

OXFAM - Oxfam is a global organization working to end the injustice of poverty. We help people build better futures for themselves, hold the powerful accountable, and save lives in disasters.

Project HOPE - For more than 60 years, Project HOPE has transformed the health and well-being of people and communities around the world. They work on the front lines of the world’s health challenges, partnering hand-in-hand with communities, health care workers and public health systems to ensure sustainable change.
